Dahab and Mt. Sinai

We are wrapping up our last full day here in Egypt. Five days has certainly flown by but we have definitely crossed off everything on our to do list. From Luxor we flew to Sharm El Sheikh, and then took a 45 minute taxi ride (that should have been 1.25 hours, but at 90mph things go a bit quicker) to a little backpacker haven called Dahab. We have mostly been relaxing in restaurants by the perfectly turquoise waters of the Red Sea sipping on a variety of local Egyptian beers. From where we are on the coast, we can see Saudi Arabia in the not so distant distance....

Last night we hiked up Mount Sinai. It was a long night of hiking but seeing the giant sun "orb" rise over the peaks of the Sinai region was well worth every hour of sleep we didn't get. We also had a quick visit to St. Katherine's Monastery, home to Moses' burning bush... or perhaps near cousin to the buring bush, being that the original bush burned.

Tomorrow we are taking a ferry across the Red Sea to Aqaba, Jordan where a "Reliable Rental Car" will hopefully be waiting for us with a shiny Toyota Corolla. We will spend one night in Aqaba and then head out for Wadi Rum (a desert) the next morning.

A few pics of Sinai and Dahab...
