Here are some of the highlights:
After a full day of the pyramids and strolling through the Egyptian museum, we were excited to leave Cairo and head south to Luxor. So back we went to the airport and hopped on a flight...
We were picked up in Luxor by our hostel, the 'Bob Marley Hostel,' true to it's name there were posters and paintings of the famous Rastafarian everywhere, quite the theme they had going. In fact, it was a much nicer place than our hostel in Cairo. In Cairo for $30 a night, we stayed in a hostel that came complete with cockroaches, a malfunctioning toilet and 11 new mosquito bites; whereas in Luxor we paid $12 dollars a night for a room sans insects, AC, a heaping breakfast and a toilet that flushed (such luxury in Luxor, haha). Despite our new digs, the room stayed around 85 or 90 degrees while it soared to 115 outside. Once again, nothing stopped us from seeing pretty much every sight out there. We toured "Valley of the Kings" where we got to see lots of tombs from ancient Egyptian Pharaohs and the Karnac Temple which was quite the sight...and a few other neat places I can't remember the names of. And for $50 we even got to sail around on a Felucca (traditional Egyptian sailboat) for a couple of hours. Too bad there was no wind and we ended up being pulled by a tugboat.
